First-time clients
Most first-timers feel a mix of nerves and curiosity — totally normal. Your therapist will walk you through everything before starting, explain each step, and check in with you throughout. The discomfort is brief (think 1–3 seconds per pull), the room is private, and most clients leave saying "that was much easier than I thought."
Hair needs to be at least 2mm — roughly the size of a grain of rice. Our Waxx Inn formula works on hair shorter than most commercial waxes, but if you've shaved within the last 7–10 days, give it a few more days before booking.
You're not. Truly. Our therapists do intimate waxing every day, on every body type, and have seen everything. There's no judgment, no awkward conversation, and you can keep as much covered as you want during the appointment. Most first-time intimate clients tell us afterwards that they wish they'd booked sooner.
Just three things: hair at least 2mm long, exfoliate gently 24 hours before (no harsh scrubs), and skip moisturiser on the area the day of. We'll handle the rest.
Waxx Inn & Treatments
Waxx Inn is our own exclusive wax formula, developed in-house and used in all four Luxury Wax Bar studios. It's based on natural and organic materials, has high adhesion to hair (not skin), and works on hair as short as 2mm. We also sell it separately at waxxinn.co.uk for professional use.
Hot wax (also called hard wax) is applied warm, sets on the skin, and is removed without strips — gentle on sensitive areas. Strip wax is thinner, applied with a spatula, and removed with fabric strips — faster on larger areas like legs and arms. Most full-body appointments use a combination of both.
Sugaring uses a paste of sugar, lemon, and water — applied at body temperature and removed in the natural direction of hair growth. It's gentler than wax, ideal for very sensitive skin, and exfoliates as it removes. It's not "better" — it's different. Both achieve smooth skin; sugaring is a preference for clients with reactive skin.
Absolutely — that's how most of our clients book. A "Hollywood + underarms + eyebrow" combo is one of our most popular. Book the longest treatment as your main slot and add the smaller ones at checkout.
A Hollywood removes all hair from the bikini area. A Brazilian leaves a small strip or shape (your choice — landing strip, triangle, square). Your therapist will check before starting, and you can change your mind during the appointment.
Male waxing
Yes — male waxing makes up a significant part of our bookings. We offer back, chest, shoulders, stomach, intimate (manzilian), eyebrow, ear, and nose waxing. Therapists are trained specifically in male hair patterns and skin response.
Typically 30–45 minutes for a full back, depending on hair density. We use a combination of strip and hot wax to keep the appointment fast and comfortable.
No — that's a myth. Hair grows back at the same thickness, but often finer over time with regular waxing because the follicle weakens slightly with each session.
Pregnancy & Sensitive Skin
Yes, waxing is safe at every stage of pregnancy. Skin can become more sensitive, especially in the second and third trimesters, so we use a gentler version of our Waxx Inn formula and adjust positioning for comfort.
After roughly 20 weeks, lying flat on your back becomes uncomfortable. We use side-lying or semi-reclined positioning — your therapist will adjust based on what feels best for you.
In most cases, yes — but we recommend a brief consultation first. For active flare-ups, we'll suggest postponing the treatment. For managed conditions, we adjust the wax temperature, technique, and aftercare to minimise irritation.
Not on the affected area. Both make skin much more reactive and prone to tearing during waxing. We recommend waiting at least 6 months after stopping Accutane and 1–2 weeks after pausing topical retinoids. Threading is a safe alternative for brows during this period.
Yes — and many clients do. Skin can be slightly more sensitive in the days before and during, but it doesn't affect the treatment. Just wear a tampon or menstrual cup for intimate waxing; the therapist will discreetly tuck the string out of the way.
Aftercare & results
Generally 3–6 weeks, depending on the area and your hair growth cycle. The first few waxes might last closer to 3 weeks; with regular waxing every 4–6 weeks, results last longer as the follicles weaken.
For 24 hours: no hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, gyms, sun exposure, or tight clothing on the waxed area. After 48 hours: start gentle exfoliation 2–3 times a week to prevent ingrown hairs. Moisturise daily.
Three habits: gentle exfoliation (chemical or physical) 2–3 times a week, daily moisturising, and not shaving between appointments. We sell aftercare products in-studio if you want a recommendation.
Mild redness and small bumps for a few hours are completely normal — it's just your skin reacting to the hair removal. If redness persists beyond 24 hours, or you see significant swelling, contact us. We'll always advise on next steps.
